Appetite suppressant?

I’m embarking on a new eating lifestyle and the only probelm is– I’m hungry. Will my body get used to the diminished caloric intake? Also, anybody got any good ideas for food that lasts? I’ve been trying to get a good balance of fiber, protein and carbs, but I’ve been hungry most days. Any suggestions?
I’m not looking for an appetite suppresant drug, just foods that will keep me fuller longer. I drink what feels like a ton of water (3 to 4 ltr a day) and I’ll have one 12 ounce diet soda at lunch. If I eat a salad for lunch I always make sure it contains protein– beans, turkey, tuna– at least 3 ounces. I’ve been having special K for breakfast and an apple for a snack about 2pm. Today I had brown rice and baked chicken (boneless, skinless) with mushrooms for lunch. Now it’s 3:30 and I’m hungry… I’m hoping my body will adjust. Being hungry like this makes me want JUNK!

Eat more Fiber. Apples, Oatmeal, 100% whole wheat bread. Baked not fried foods. Lots of veggies, and fruits. Fat free milk, yogurt not icecream. Make sure you eat breakfast. Exercise, even it is no more than walking at a fast pace, for 45 to 60 minutes, at least three time a week. Good Luck!

Yes it will get used to it. If you are hungry in the mean time eat low-cal fruit (like apples) or veggies (just about all of them) that are high in fiber content.

The usual answer is to drink lots of water. However, that isn’t always the easiest thing to do. I don’t like drinking tons of water. I found that eating very small meals throughout the day worked for me. About 5 tiny meals – so I always felt satisfied, not "full" – but not hungry either.

Try eating rice. And if you like grapefruit, eat those. I’ve heard they burn calories.

Like Life or total. Or shredded wheat. With low fat milk.

If you eat satisfying meals, the need to snack will be diminished.

Instead of cutting calories for your meals, focus on eating healthier meals and then cut out the snacks. Focusing on just the calories isn’t a plan for success, you need to find a balance between what satisfies you and what is healthy for you.

If you’re just having a salad for a meal then you will be hungry later. Everyone would, even thinner people. You need to have nicely balanced meals otherwise you’re just fighting against your own body.

Eat sensibly. Starving yourself is not eating sensibly!

Also, do NOT take any appetite suppressants. Almost all of these are bad for your heart, are completely unproven, and will just make your body even less healthy.

Lots and lots and lots of water.

(We’re supposed to drink a gallon per day, but most people do not. Just don’t try to drink a whole gallon at the same time!)

you did not list what you are eating. so hard to give advice. try eating foods high in protein, fiber and comlex carbohydrates. look up the volumetrics book or gi diet, they list foods that take the body long to digest and ones that contain a lot of water per serving, thus making you feel full. here are some examples of filling foods
apples, oatmeal, chicken breast, halibut, sweet potato, cabage, broccoli

    things that make you hungrier
white bread, white rice, croissants, ice cream

try hoodia they say that is suppose to supress you appetite i have tried it and it helped me for awhile but everyone’s body reacts to medcine differently so you might lose weight from it faster than what i did good luck i know its hard to keep off the weight. And your stomach will eventually get smaller the less you eat so that you will not eat as much as you use to. And make sure you drink plenty of water and excerise daily

your body will get used to it and you will get less hungry with time.
I find that drinking something helps. I like tea, so I drink a lot of plain tea and that definitely helps. I don’t know if it is true, but green teas are also supposed to reduce appetite, you may give that a try.
Meanwhile try to think of hunger as a positive thing. I assume you are taking a new eating lifestyle because you want to lose weight. If you are hungry think of the weight you are losing right now because you are not eating something.
